Jesintha from Siluvaipuram, near Avinashi, in Tirupur district was down with severe fever since the last one week. She was initially admitted to Tirupur Government Hospital by her parents. As she was diagnosed with dengue, the girl was referred to CMCH for further treatment on Tuesday.

Despite intensive treatment, the girl’s condition deteriorated and she died on Friday. In another incident, Darnish from Tirumurugan Nagar at Nachipalayam in Tirupur district was suffering from fever since the last 10 days.

As he failed to recover despite treatment at private hospitals, the boy was taken to Tirupur Government Hospital by his parents. He too was found suffering from dengue and was brought to CMCH on Wednesday. Yet, his condition worsened and the boy succumbed to flu without responding to treatment.

Doctors at the CMCH said that there has been a spate in dengue and fever cases following continuous rain. “As many as 43 persons were admitted for dengue and 114 persons for fever in the hospital. The dengue patients were treated in a special ward. It could be cured if the patients come to hospital at a preliminary stage itself as deaths happen mainly because of them coming in advanced stage with severe complications,” said a doctor.
