A Raj Nivas release said, a few Tamil dailies have reported about a private complaint lodged against the Lt Governor alleging violation of law. The private complaint relates to an official visit made by the Lt Governor two years back (in January 2018) to a government-run observation home at Ariyankuppam. Raj Nivas clarified that the visit of the LG was to tone up the functioning of the government facility operated by the welfare department. During the visit, the senior officials of the concerned department were present and the visit had resulted in improving the functioning of the facility, the release said.

It may be noted that the Puducherry Students Federation President Saminathan, had lodged a police complaint alleging that the Lt Governor had violated the law during her visit to the juvenile home.

PU-EAJAC urges LG to instruct VC to remove registrar from post

Alleging that the Registrar (in-charge) of the Pondicherry University, B Chitra, is not duly educationally qualified or experienced to hold the post, Pondicherry University Employees Association Joint Action Committee(PU-EAJAC), on Wednesday urged Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, who is the Chief rector of the University to instruct the Vice Chancellor to remove her from the post.

In a memorandum submitted to the Lt Governor, the PU-EAJAC pointed out that the CAG’s performance audit report 2018 clearly shows that she lack adequate qualification and her appointment is ‘irregular and illegal’.

Such a person should not lead the convocation procession in which president Ram Nath Kovind, Lt Governor and other dignitaries are attending or should not sign the mark sheet of students.

It was also pointed out to the Lt Governor that the JAC in its meeting resolved that the members would be constrained to wear black badges as a mark of protest if Ms Chitra allows to continue as Registrar (in-charge) during the convocation.
