“Local body elections in the state has been planned on December 27 and 30 and if liquor shops are not closed on the all the days before and after the local body elections they might result in violence and tension in rural areas. Government should order closure of Tasmac shops on all six days from December 25 to 30,” said Ramadoss, in a statement.

He also said that though government has announced closure of liquor shops 48 hours before the two dates of polling it will not be enough. Also, the state has announced that the liquor shops can be opened at 5 pm on the day of polling, but unlike Assembly and Lok Sabha, polling will be delay.

If liquor shops are opened early, it might result in violence, said Ramadoss.
