Police fire in air to prevent group clash
Police fired in the air to disperse two groups following a clash in the aftermath of paying homage on the death anniversary of freedom fighter Veerapandiya Kattabomman.

Reports received at the police headquarters here said that some members of Adi Dravida community hurled stones leading to a clash following some differences.
However, police intervened and defused the tension by firing in the air as a precautionary measure. There were no injuries. More than 500 police personnel were deployed for security duty to prevent escalation of tension.
