Polytechnic colleges to get common schedule
After engineering institutions, Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) will be releasing a comprehensive and common academic spell details including working days and exam schedule for all polytechnic colleges in the State to have uniform activities in all the institutions.

At present, the academic spell details were released by Anna University only for engineering students in Tamil Nadu. The DoTE’s initiative came against the backdrop of several complaints that many private polytechnic colleges were releasing its own schedule without informing the authorities concerned.
A senior official from the DOTE told DT Next that the academic spell for polytechnic students will be comprehensive and common for all. "It will be released at the beginning of each semester," he said adding the spell sheet, which will be online, will have all the schedules that have to be adopted by all the government, government aided and self-financing polytechnic.
Stating that in addition to the online availability, the academic schedule will also be sent to all the polytechnic students through their respective email, the official said the academic schedule will also be available in college notice boards.
Explaining about the details given in the academic spell sheet, the official said, "It will have working hours, students’ reporting period, number of working days, college holidays, board exam details, fees structure and payment methods and among others.”
The DoTE official also said that in addition to the academic spell sheet, a common schedule for faculties in polytechnic colleges will also be released.
"The common schedule includes maintenance of attendance, conducting exams, classroom and practical session and among others", he said adding that the schedule will help to monitor all the colleges.
According to the official, at present, there are about 520 government, government-aided and private polytechnic colleges functioning in the State with about lakh students were studying in the institutions.
