In a statement, CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan said that the Governor address did not provide any relief to the day-to-day problems faced bythe people.

“The neo-liberal economic policies pursued by the Centre for the past many years has started showing adverse impacts in the state in terms of unemployment, price rise and stunted industrial growth. It is disappointing that the Governor’s address did not provide any solutions to the problems faced by the public,” he said.

He condemned the state government failing to raise its voice unequivocally to receive the state’s due share from the Central funds even after pointing out in the address. “The state government is giving up its right by not raising the issue of the Centre continuously reducing the state’s share of subsidies. Besides the state has been given only 42 per cent of the service tax rather than 50 per cent only shows the Centre’s step motherly attitude,” he said.

CPI state secretary R Mutharasan said the Governor address did not reflect the public sentiment in the wake of the local body polls results and the legislations of the Centre.
