Students of colleges in Delta condemn JNU violence, demand arrest of culprits
Student unions from various colleges in Tiruchy, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur staged a protest on Tuesday against the attack on the JNU students and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.

As the protests against the attack on the JNU students intensified across the nation, the student unions across the state continue to protest and on Tuesday the members of Student Federation of India called for a regional level protest among the students of various colleges. As per the call, the students of Thiru Vi Ka Government Arts College, Tiruvarur, gathered and held a protest. Likewise, members from various student unions converged in front of the college and raised slogans against the attack and demanded the arrest of the culprits.
Meanwhile, the students from Kunthavai Nachiyar Government Arts College for women, Constituent College of Bharathidasan University Nannilam in Tiruvarur and Raja Sarfoji Government College also staged a protest against the attack. They claimed that the BJP is behind the attack and so the culprits are not yet arrested. They warned that the student unions would continue to protest until the accused are arrested.
Similarly, a section of student union members belonging to Student Islamic Organisation of India attempted to besiege the railway station in Tiruchy. They claimed that the students and professors from JNU were attacked severely and the assailants main aim was to kill the students who lead the protest against CAA. They demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
DMK’s studentwing meet today
The DMK’s students wing will meet on Wednesday to discuss about the several latest issues, including the recent attack on JNU students. DMK sources here on Tuesday said that the meeting, which will be chaired by student’s wing secretary CVMP Ezhilarasan, Kancheepuram MLA, will be held at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam on Wednesday evening. Asking the members to attend the meeting without fail, DMK party statement, also said that the meeting would discuss Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). It was also proposed that a protest demonstration of the students’ wing will be held at all district headquarters. In addition, the party would also discuss about the recent attack on JNU students. The meeting is likely to pass several resolutions, including asking the state government to prevail upon the Centre to discontinue the proposed CAA and also National Register of Citizens. The meeting will also induct several new student members.
