SSI shot dead by unidentified gang at Tamil Nadu-Kerala border check post
Three special teams have been formed to nab the culprits. Police have collected the CCTV footage from a nearby location and were identifying the culprits.

In a daring act, a Special Sub Inspector (SSI) of Police was shot dead by an unidentified gang at the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border check post near Kaliyakkavilai in this district late on Wednesday night.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Tirunelveli range), Praveen Kumar Abinapu told newsmen here that the SSI Wilson (57), attached to Kaliyakkavilai police station and other policemen while conducting a routine vehicle check up at the Padanthalumoodu check post, attempted to stop a Mahindra Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number TN 57 AW-1559 coming from Thiruvananthapuram on suspicion.
One of the occupants in the SUV alighted from the vehicle and fired three rounds at the police officer. The assailants then sped away in the SUV towards Kerala.
Wilson suffered bullet injuries on his chest and abdomen. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to bullet injuries.
District Collector Prashant M Wadnere and Kanyakumari Superintendent of Police N,Shreenath visited the spot and held inquiries.
