“I think you are forgettisng some basic facts.  The DMK has been the Congress’ oldest ally.  We have converged on almost every national issue.  The biggest convergence is between these two parties,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told a media briefing at the AICC on Sunday.

He was replying to questions on the meeting between Tamil Nadu Congress leaders, including TNCC president KS Alagiri with DMK president MK Stalin in Chennai on Saturday after the recent differences between the two parties in the Panchayat elections.

Singhvi said the two parties had been together from 2004 and had survived the two UPA and the NDA governments.  “We are thinking together as friends and it is positive development which has happened,” he added.  He said there could be some minor differences on local issue but as friends they have been resolved. “You are creating divisions where none exist. There is nothing that is intractable,” he added.
