According to AIADMK insiders, the party leaders are also planning to rope in Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inaugural event of Jayalalithaa’s memorial, which is nearing completion on the Marina.

Party leader O Panneerselvam in his address urged the functionaries to conduct state wide welfare schemes targeting the women, students and the poor. Amma was keen on helping the poor and on her birthday, it is the duty of the party workers to render assistance to those in need. Already the Amma Peravai of the party is taking up such welfare measures setting up examples, this drive must continue aimed at helping the public, Panneerselvam said.

In his address, Chief Minister Palaniswami urged the cadre to conduct state wide medical camps and blood donation drives. It is for the cadre to recall the legacy of Amma among the public and the party workers should campaign against the DMK to fulfil the vow of our leader Amma to decimate the opposition DMK.

The party’s Amma Peravai wing led by Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar also discussed sponsoring welfare assistance for the poor, financial assistance for the economically weak cadre and to host celebration events across the state.

According to informed government sources, the state government had planned to inaugurate the memorial constructed at the cost of Rs 50 crore.
