The students abstained from their classes and gathered in front of the Distance Education wing where former IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan (who had resigned from his post) addressed them.
At the end of his speech, the students raised slogans against the CAA and the ABVP students voiced their support for CAA triggering tension inside the campus.Police personnel in less numbers could not control the students.
However, no untoward incidents happened as the students opposing CAA slogans were drowned by the accompanied music and drums and the ABVP students raised slogans for some time and dispersed on their own.
