NIA begins probe with Wilson killers

The duo was said to be taken to Nesamony police station by the NIA team, who interrogated them to get more details behind the killing, sources said. The Sub-Inspector was gunned down at Kaliyakkavilai check post on Market road on the night of January 8.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kanniyakumari District Crime Branch, KP Ganesan, who’s heading the custodial interrogation, said Abdul Sameem was interrogated by the NIA at the police station.

However, Thoufeeq was escorted by a team led by the DSP to a house, which is located on Seethakathi Street in Kayalpatnam near Tiruchendur, Thoothukudi district. The team questioned inmates of the house of Nawaz, one of the accused detained in New Delhi on charges of aiding and abetting the crime related to the killing of Wilson.

The mother of Nawaz and his wife were questioned to confirm whether the duo held discussions clandestinely in the house last month, the DSP said. During the custodial interrogation since January 21, weapons allegedly used by the accused had been recovered. With five more days left for the accused to remain in police custody, the investigation team is expected to achieve further breakthrough in the case.
