CM inaugurates government hospital buildings across state
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday inaugurated government hospital buildings and maternity wards constructed at a cost of Rs 37 crore at a function held at the Secretariat.

A press release from the Secretariat said that the state has been periodically taking steps to improve the status of government hospitals and government medical colleges.
Chief Minister Palaniswami, through video conferencing, inaugurated a modern maternity hospital in Dindigul district constructed at a cost of Rs 18 crore. The new facility has 200 beds and will help to provide better care for the public in the district. The new maternity hospital complex has neonatal care centre, labour ward, surgery ward, scanning centre, surgery ward and post-operation care unit. The state is also taking steps to strengthen all the district headquarters and taluk-level hospitals.
As part of the upgradation project, the state had also constructed new buildings and purchased modern equipment for Rs 17 crore. Under the ongoing up-gradation project Rs 7 crore was spent on improving the academic buildings at Madurai Government Hospital. The Chief Minister also inaugurated new buildings at Rajapalayam Government Hospital in Virudhunagar and Orathanadu Government Hospital in Thanjavur. As part of the facelift programmes, the government will also take up restoration works in more government colleges that have been recently constructed, sources said. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister through video conferencing also inaugurated new buildings constructed at government arts colleges and engineering colleges across the state.
