    CPM seeks CBI probe into TNPSC scams 

    In the wake of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) recruitment scam, the CPM on Tuesday sought a CBI probe into the recruitment of assistant professors and exams conducted by the TNPSC in the AIADMK rule.

    “There are reports of large-scale scam in the recruitment of the assistant professors for Arts and Science College and Teacher’s Training College by the Higher Education Department. For the recruitment of 2,340 postings, there are reports suggesting that Rs 30 lakh being collected for each appointment. The persons who have genuinely applied for the posts were saddened and disappointed by the news,” CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan said in a statement.


    He said that the appointment of such unqualified persons would affect the standard and quality of the higher education in the state. “After the unravelling of the group-4 recruitment scam in the TNSPC, now reports of scams in the recruitment of the village administrative officer and junior assistants are coming out. The CB-CID probe also revealed the scam in the group-2 recruitments as well,” he said, adding that the scam happened with the support of the government involving the employees of the TNPSC, police and private coaching centres. He blamed the AIADMK government for the irregularities.
