“The company (Kia Motors) has not spoken with the state government. But, if they wish to move to Tamil Nadu, we will welcome them and will extend all possible incentives just like any other automobile plant in the state,” said the Minister, while addressing the media in Cuddalore.

Recently, there were media reports that Kia motors, which has its manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh, is planning to move its plant to Tamil Nadu but both Andhra government and Kia motors have refuted the reports.

When the Minister was asked whether the company approached the state government for setting up the plant, he replied that already all the ancillary units of Kia motors are present in the state.

“The ancillary units, producing spare parts for Kia motors such as gear box, steering, windows, doors chassis, A/C machine, total electric connections and lights are present in and around Sriperumbudur, Oragadam, Pillaipakkam and Thervoi Kandigai, in Tiruvallur district. The manufactured spare parts are sent to the plant in Andhra Pradesh and the car is just assembled there,” said the Minister.
