HC orders 28 engg students to clean up Tiruchy GH
In an unusual order, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday directed 28 students of a private engineering college in Tiruchy to clean up KAP Vishwanatham Government Medical College Hospital, Tiruchy, on February 22.
Madurai
During July last year, these students in two groups had indulged in a clash that saw unruly scenes as they used wooden logs and beer bottles and attacked one another. The clash broke out between the third year students and final year students on the college premises at Pirattiyur.
After learning this, the Tiruchy police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Later, all those 28 students were arrested. After hearing a bunch of petitions filed, seeking compromise over the issue, Justice Jagadish Chandira cancelled the ‘First Information Report’ filed against these 28 students under various Sections of the IPC, but ordered all the students to clean up the General Ward in the KAP Vishwanatham Government Medical College Hospital on February 22 and they should obtain certificate from the Dean of the Medical College.
Further, the students were directed to submit the certificate before the court on February 26.
