Sources in the Secretariat said that DMK MLAs K Sekar Babu and M Subramanian handed over a letter from DMK president and Leader of the Opposition MK Stalin to Assembly secretary stating that CAA is against the interests of minorities and state government should pass the resolution demanding the Union government to withdraw the Act.

Earlier, before the first session of the year, the DMK submitted a letter to Assembly Secretary to move a resolution against the CAA, but it was rejected. According to the Tamil Nadu Assembly Rules, resolution to be moved should be intimated to the house before 15 days. The announcement for the session came on Friday and since they do not have 15 days for moving a resolution they urged the state to do so.

    Rajiv case: SC direction welcomed

DMK president MK Stalin has welcomed the direction of the Supreme Court instructing the state to file its reply on the action taken by the Governor on the resolution adopted by the state Cabinet for the release of Perarivalan among the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convicts. Stalin urged CM Edappadi K Palaniswami to immediately impress upon the Governor to approve Cabinet resolution to expedite release of Rajiv convicts.
