“All private schools in the State are monitored. Strict action will be taken against the management of schools which collect donations from parents, especially during admission time,” the Minister said on the sidelines of a function here.

Stating that private schools should start student admissions only during April, the Minister said, “If any school is found admitting students well before April through advertisements, action will be initiatedagainst them”.

Further, claiming that the functioning of private tuition centres across the State is also being monitored by authorities, Sengottaiyan said tuition centres should be established only after obtaining permission from the SchoolEducation department.

To a question on the report tabled by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in Parliament on the 100% jump in dropout rate in Classes 9 and 10 in Tamil Nadu, the Education Minister said authorities from the Directorate of School Education were in the process of reviewing the data.

Sengottaiyan also announced that the State Council of Educational Research and Training, which decides the school curriculum, is taking steps to release guide material, which would help students to grasp the new syllabus easily.

Earlier, the Minister unveiled an Integrated Health Education tool kit for teachers and district educational officers at the State-level consultation for officials.
