Coming out of the Coimbatore Central Prison on conditional bail, Palanisamy told reporters, “It wasn’t me, who they imprisoned, but only the principles of MGR and Jayalalithaa. I will remain stronger.”

Further Palanisamy asked, “Does AIADMK has any evidence for sending letter expelling me from the party? The media was denied entry into my house during the arrest. I will remain in AIADMK forever and even if jailed for hundred times. I wouldn’t join other parties and will face cases with a stronger resolve.”

The former MP was released from Coimbatore Central Prison on Thursday after the Principal District and Sessions Court judge granted him conditional bail. Earlier, his bail petitions were rejected by the judicial magistrate court, Sulur and PDJ court. On January 25, Palanisamy was arrested for misusing the party name and symbol. He was booked under 10 sections of Indian Penal Code and two sections of Information Technology Act.

In his complaint, Kandhavel, president of Muthukavundanpudur village near Sulur alleged that the former MP impersonated himself as the member of the AIADMK despite being expelled by the party in 2018 and created a web portal www.aiadmk.org.in suggesting that the AIADMK and MGR loyalists were rallying behind him. He also distributed fake membership cards of the party.

Palanisamy, who was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1989 from Tiruchengode constituency, was also a former MLA from Kangeyam Assembly constituency.
