Vellore AIADMK east, west secys at loggerheads
The under wrap animosity between Vellore east district secretary S Ravi who is also the Arakkonam MLA and Vellore west district secretary and Commercial Taxes Minister KC Veeramani came out in the open at a party meeting held at the party’s HQ in Chennai recently. The meet was called by coordinator O Paneerselvam and joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Vellore
The 75-minute meeting saw Amma Peravai district secretary V Murali set the ball rolling when he said that Vellore east district secretary had created a record by filling up all party posts which had not been done by any of his predecessors.
CM EPS immediately replied that Ravi was given that post as the high command because he knew that Ravi worked hard.
However, Murali continued to talk stating that when J Jayalalithaa was alive, the complaints were redressed immediately. He also said that in the current regime, contract is being given to DMK men which had never happened before.
When it was Ravi’s turn to talk, he replied that in the absence of a local or a district minister during the campaign, he made the AIADMK candidate G Sampath win by a majority of 16,000 votes. Ravi indirectly made the statement to Veeramani to indicate that he was not present during campaigning.
Veeramani, who was the last to speak at the meet refrained from answering Ravi’s charge but strongly stated that the coordinator and joint coordinator can place anyone in the urban and rural district secretary posts in Vellore district and added that post trifurcation, the district was not easy to manage. There was no reply to this statement from either EPS and OPS.
The minister’s concluding speech however raised hopes that atleast now the two top posts in Vellore district would be filled at short notice.
