CAA stir intensifies in Central districts
Members of Muslim outfits intensified their agitation in the central region against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the recent unrelenting violence in Delhi, as the continuous protests reached 13th day on Thursday.

The Central region has been witnessing widespread protests against the CAA, National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) by many Muslim groups in several districts. On Thursday, the Anti-CAA protesters showed their opposition by blindfolding themselves and flying black balloons condemning the Centre’sdecision.
In Tiruchy, the protesters continued to stage a sit-in protest at the Uzhavar Sandhai ground in Anna Nagar and the protesters raised slogans against the Centre. The protesters also invited Muslim outfits leaders to explain the problems in the Act and the consequence of the Act once implemented. More than a 1,000 members participated in an evening protest conducted at Musiri, the outskirts of Tiruchy.
Meanwhile, in Thanjavur, the Confederation of Muslim organisations staged a protest in Papanasam and more than a 1,000 people participated in the agitation. All the protesters wore black badge and blindfolded themselves while in Keezhavasan in Thanjavur, the members gathered at Aattumanthai and staged a protest.
Similarly, at Muthupettai in Tiruvarur, the members who have been continuing their protest for the 13th consecutive day, raised slogans against the Centre and State governments. They also demanded the Centre to withdraw CAA which they claimed targeted the minorities especially the Muslims. Similar protests have been continuing in Pudukkottai, Nagapattinam and Karur districts.
