Pregnant woman stranded after partner dies, gets shelter with police help
Palayanur police came to the rescue of a pregnant woman and her two daughters who became homeless after the woman’s paramour with whom she eloped passed away recently.

A pregnant woman along with two of her daughters from Vayalseri village, Thiruppuvanam taluk of Sivagangai district, was abandoned by her family, after she eloped with her paramour. The woman aged about twenty-five years got married in 2013, but three months back she allegedly eloped with one, M Ajithkumar of Sivanangulam, Thiruppuvanam taluk. After learning about the incident, she was ostracized by her family members and much to her agony, Ajithkumar, with whom she eloped with passed away.
Ajithkumar was murdered by two of his friends identified as R Ravichandran (27) of Irungalur, Trichy and K Gurunathan (27) of N Puthur, Rajapalayam. Manamadurai Deputy Superintendent of Police G Karthikeyan said after the eloping the couple stayed at Ravichandran’s house at Trichy but he took advantage of Ajithkumar’s absence in the house and developed a relationship with the woman. As Ajithkumar felt the relationship was illicit, he warned her and several altercations occurred. Having felt that Ajithkumar’s presence in the house was disturbing the affair, he was abducted by Ravichandran and his accomplice Gurunathan on February 7 and was force fed insecticide. Despite treatment at GHs, he succumbed on February 18.
In such a senario, the Palayanur police came to the rescue of the pregnant woman and her two daughters who are currently at a home-care centre being maintained by the Integrated Rural Community Development Society in Magagupatti since February 26. However, sources said that since the woman was pregnant and also taking care of her two girl children, temporary shelter was provided.
