Palaniswami preps up cadre for 2021 battle
AIADMK appoints former legislator from Madurai R Annadurai as party spokesperson.

Eyeing the next general Assembly polls in 2021, the ruling AIADMK on Tuesday kickstarted a workshop for its spokespersons and platform speakers at the party headquarters here.
Inaugurating the workshop titled “Solvom – Velvom” which means preach and win, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami urged the party spokespersons to tirelessly dedicate their time for the party. With elections around the corner, the party speakers should pep up their public speech, he said.
Congratulating the party literary wing for arranging a workshop to train the speakers, the AIADMK leader said that the role ofthe party spokespersons is very crucial.
“Public speaking is a skill which serves likes a heart for a political party. It should be strong, communicative and help the public.”
“The AIADMK government that follows the footstep of AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran and the late leader J Jayalalithaa has brought social changes in the state and has empowered the people. The current AIADMK government has been continuing the flagship schemes of our late leaders. All such schemes and projects should be projected in the minds of the public,” Palaniswami said.
Pointing out that the Opposition, particularly DMK, will be criticising the AIADMK government, he urged the party speakers to be ready for the mudslinging.
The DMK will use derogatory remarks and will use harsh comments against the government and it is the role of the party workers to counter their views in a more pleasing and fitting manner.
Our political comments should not be derogatory. It should be informative and diplomatic to the audience, he said during his pep talk.
Emphasising that the party has just one year to go for the Assembly polls, he urged the party workers to prepare their database with facts and figures.
The state is a pioneer in terms of developments and is now a leading state in terms of political governance. The state government has bagged so many awards on administration and governance. This apart, the state is executing so many welfare projects and the public works department has kick-started irrigation projects to boost farmers’ income, Palaniswami said.
The Chief Minister, who is also the party joint convenor, noted that the state has passed a government order notifying the protected special agricultural zone tohelp farmers in Cauvery Delta region.
All these measures aimed at public welfare should reach the voters.
The newspapers and media houses are quoting the spokespersons on par with elected MLAs and MPs. Is this not pride and it is the duty of the speakers to ensure the victory of the party in upcoming polls, Palaniswami said in his speech.
Meanwhile, the party also appointed Madurai-based former MLA R Annadurai as a spokesperson to express views of the AIADMK.
Former minister B Valarmathi, who heads the literary wing of the party also addressed the workers during the workshop held in Chennai.
