To address the demands of ration shop employees, state government appointed a committee to study their needs. The committee submitted the recommendations to the government and based on the recommendations the GO has been passed.
One of the recommendations of the committee is to provide uniforms for ration shop employees and the recommendation has been accepted by the state government. “Salespersons and packers in ration shops across the state can be provided uniforms as determined by the state government. If employees are provided two sets of uniforms, state government will incur an expenditure of Rs 2.37 crore for 23,787 employees,” the GO stated.
Another key recommendation accepted by the state government is to provide basic amenities for ration shops. Chairs, tables, fans, lights and toilets can be setup in all the ration shops and for all the 32,939 outlets the total expenditure for setting up of basic amenities will be around Rs 5.79 crore.
However, one of the key recommendations that was rejected by the state government is to provide incentives for ration shop employees.
