    Power Minister thanks staff for non-stop supply

    Electricity Minister P Thangamani on Sunday thanked the workers of the Tangedco for their continuous and dedicated work to ensure uninterrupted power supply to people staying at their homes due to 21-day lockdown.

    “The Chief Minister has directed to provide uninterrupted power supply during the covid-19 lockdown. The staff are working round the clock and about 80 per cent of the workers are turning up to the work. If there is any fault, we are attending it immediately to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

    Like health and police department, Tangedco employeesare working with dedication to ensure power supply. I thank them on behalf of the Chief Minister,” he told reporters here. 

    Thangamani said that the power demand has come down by 4,500 MW due to closure of the industries. “With the people remaining at home, the domestic power demand has gone up,” he said.

    When asked about the loss due to the fall in demand, the Minister said that the Tangedco has incurred a revenue loss of about Rs 300 crore due to dip in power demand in the past four to five days.
