Govt launches IVRS to address health concerns of public

“The system is easy to use as when a missed called is given to 9499912345 the system will call back and will ask simple questions. Based on the reply provided by the callers, the system will give them right advice and will direct them out of their worries,” said Chief Minister, after inaugurating the system.

During the launch function, the Chief Minister held a video conferencing with Union Information and Telecom Minister Ravishankar Prasad, who appreciated the state government for its steps taken towards fighting coronavirus.

The system was jointly developed by state Health Department, IIT-Madras and Department of Telecom.

“We must employ all technology at our command to ensure lives are not lost and people who are tackling the virus are suitably and promptly sensitized on the need to take pro-active measures. In this light, Arogiya Sethu IVRS is a fine innovation of technology,” said Ravishankar Prasad.

The newly launched IVRS is first of its kind in the country as the system functions without the need of internet because of which 60 per cent of the population who do not have access to internet will also benefit. Once the user receives call from the above number, simple details such as the details of the corona infection, the area in which they are residing, the details of other health conditions such as blood pressure, body sugar level will be asked. 

After the details were submitted, the  system will divide  the patients into three categories such as lower risk, medium risk and high risk patients. In case of low risk patients, the system will itself give medical tips to the patients. In case of medium risk patients, the system will connect to district emergency control room to provide advice. through them and in case of high risk patients the system will provide the details to the district emergency control room to take necessary action.
