Tamil Nadu Covid-19 count crosses 8,000-mark with 798 fresh cases in last 24 hours
The deadly coronavirus consumed six more lives in Tamil Nadu on Monday, which also saw the sharpest spike in daily additions that pushed the cumulative tally beyond the 8,000 mark.

As many as 798 people tested positive for COVID-19, taking the cumulative number of infections to 8,002, a Health Department bulletin said.
Monday was the fifth day in a row when Tamil Nadu registered positive cases in excess of 500.
State capital Chennai continued to see the highest number of infections at 538, taking the total tally to 4,377.
After the six deaths reported on Monday, the death toll in Tamil Nadu due to coronavirus had climbed up to 53.
There were 5,895 active cases as on date, the government said, adding a total of 2,051 people have been discharged so far following treatment, including 92 today.
A total of 11,862 samples were tested over the past 24 hours, which now total over 2.54 lakh.
The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 427.
