Hairdressers, beauticians seek nod to reopen shops
Members of All India Hair Dressers and Beauticians Association in Salem petitioned the district administration authorities to allow them to resume operations.

“More than four lakh women, who were working as beauticians across South India, have been affected by the closure of beauty parlours. Many single women run their families with the income earned through this service. Considering the plight of such women, the government should give some relaxation for us to function,” said Vanitha, a beautician and joint secretary of the association.
Similarly, the members of Tamil Nadu Hairdressers Union on Tuesday urged Tirupur District Collector K Vijayakarthikeyan to allow them to reopen saloons as they are struggling without an alternative source of income.
In their petition, the members also sought a relief package of Rs 10,000 to overcome the financial burden due to lockdown. Even though the government has permitted many shops to reopen, saloons were ordered to remain shut. More than 3,000 families have been hit due to closure of saloons.
