Man in Gulf calls helpline to get wife in Vellore checked

On Sunday, a 55-year-old man working in the Gulf called his 52-year-old wife in Vellore’s Saidapet area as usual in the morning. While speaking to his wife, he happened to hear her coughing. He advised her to get checked for COVID-19 in a nearest hospital. However, his wife dismissed his suggestion for a check-up citing Ramazan festivities.

Concerned about her health, the man in no mood to give up, immediately contacted the COVID-19 control room and gave his wife’s details and address seeking help from officials to treat her and his son.

The officials promptly went to the man’s house. Though the woman refused to come to hospital initially, the officials prevailed upon her to get checked. The woman and her 27-year-old son, who worked as an attendant in the CMC Hospital car park, were taken to Vellore Government Medical College Hospital in an ambulance. Moreover, two youth staying in the first floor of the house were also taken to the Vellore Pentland Hospital for isolation and observation.

Following up on this incident, Vellore Corporation officials sprayed disinfectants on the CMC premises on Monday morning.
