Mom kills second baby girl, ends life

According to police, Sangeetha wife of Gunasekaran 40, from Savadipalayam near Vijayamangalam in Perundurai was frustrated over delivering a second girl child. The couple already has a nine-year-old daughter and was desperate for a baby boy.

She planned her pregnancy after several years hoping for a male child. However, Sangeetha became deeply frustrated over delivering a second girl child despite attempts by family members to convince her.

She took the extreme step, when other family members were away. Her elder daughter had gone to stay in the house of her brother-in-law, while Gunasekaran was away to Vijayamangalam for work and her mother-in-law Sinthamani had gone out for grazing the cattle.

When Gunasekaran returned home around 7 pm. He was shocked to find the three-month old baby drowned in a huge vessel filled with water kept outside the house. He then rushed into the house and found Sangeetha hanging. Police sent the bodies for post mortem to GH.
