    Deaths being under-reported, alleges Stalin

DMK president MK Stalin on Sunday strongly criticised Edappadi K Palaniswami government over its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Chennai. He asked the government to examine whether the coronavirus has become a community spread or not and to take scientific preventive steps rather than playing with people’s lives.

Stalin, in a statement, alleged that the state seems to be under-reporting the COVID-19 deaths in the city. “The increasing number of deaths have raised the question over whether the state’s move to home quarantine people seems emerging as the main reason for the casualties,” he said and asked the CM why people were asked to be at home quarantine if his claim of availability of adequate hospital beds and state with the highest number of ventilators in the country is true.

DMK leader accused the government of lacking transparency in releasing the details.

Hitting out at the government for forming various committees comprising of bureaucrats and Ministers in Chennai, he said, “Now Pankaj Kumar Basal has been appointed as special coordinators.” He wondered why the Local Administration Minister SP Velumani who was responsible for all the mismanagement was allowed to continue by the Chief Minister.

Terming that the AIADMK government has failed to control the coronavirus spread, he demanded that the medical bulletin should reveal all details.
