10 days after TN techie’s death in Scotland, kin yet to receive body
More than 10 days after a 33-year-old software engineer died in Scotland, his elder brother from Ariyalur is running from pillar to post to bring back the body of his sibling.
Chennai
The deceased was identified as Vinoth Rajendran, working in Edinburgh. “He died of a heart attack and it was confirmed through a post mortem report. He had come down to our native place Udyanatham in December on a vacation though he had been working overseas for the last four years,” Karthikeyan, brother of the deceased, told this newspaper. “With no flights to India, his wife and child are struggling in Edinburgh,” he added. Vinoth’s wife Revathi and their 2-year-old daughter Kavinaya were left without any support and are struggling to bring the body back to Tamil Nadu.
Karthikeyan, a local politician, had sent mails to offices of the Prime Minister and the President seeking their help in bringing back Vinoth’s body, so that the family could perform the last rites at his native place.
He said that while the government has promised to respond by Monday, it might take a few days for the government to airlift the body of his brother and others from UK.
Meanwhile UK Tamil Makkal, a forum for Tamils in the United Kingdom, has sought the Tamil Nadu government to make arrangements to bring back others from TN stranded in UK . “We are stranded here and facing emergency situations so we request the TN government to make arrangements to airlift us from London to Chennai at the earliest,” said Shyamala, a PhD student and resident of T Nagar through the forum.
