Registration dept tokens to be deemed as e-pass
The State government has directed District Collectors to treat the tokens issued by Registration department equivalent to e-pass for inter-district travel.

“Concerned officials may be instructed that the public who are having valid tokens issued by the Registration department for registration of a document and the executed document proposed to be registered may be allowed to travel to the sub-register office,” said Revenue Secretary Atulya Mishra in a letter written to the Inspector General of Registration, which was forwarded to the District Collectors.
As the Registration department was allowed to function during the lockdown period, registration processes were being carried out. But public wanting to register could not travel due to restrictions in issuing e-passes for inter-district travel. Following this, many had urged the State government to ease the process.
After complaints that most applications for e-pass were getting rejected, the State relaxed the process to provide relief for public wanting to undertake registration. “Since the services of Registration department had been classified as essential, it is absolutely necessary for public to move from one place to another to complete the formalities of registration of documents even if it involves inter-district level,” Atulya Mishra said in the letter.
For return travel, the receipt given by the concerned sub-registrar where the document was registered would be accepted as a proof.
