    CMCHIS packages for treatment at pvt hosps released

    The Health Department on Thursday issued the list of packages for treatment and testing of COVID-19 patients, who are beneficiaries of Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, in private hospitals.

    The ceiling rates and payment for services to critical and non-critical patients have been fixed as per the hospital grades.

    After the treatment of COVID-19 was brought under Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), new packages for treatment under the scheme, New Health Insurance Scheme and Tamil Nadu Pensioner’s Scheme have been issued.

    The Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project has ordered that a package for non-critical cases would be brought under AB-PMJAY. The beneficiaries of CMCHIS requiring critical treatment could be admitted directly to any of the designated private hospitals. The cost of RT-PCR test for beneficiaries is Rs 2,500 in private hospitals, with an additional Rs 500 for picking up samples from home.

    The non-critical patients who are beneficiaries of the scheme can avail treatment at any of the empanelled private hospitals in the State at a maximum of Rs 5,000 per day. For the critical patients requiring intensive care unit without ventilator, a maximum of Rs 10,000 per day is allowed in A1 and A2 category, whereas A3 and A4 category hospitals can charge Rs 9,000 per day.

    Those who require intensive care unit along with ventilators should not be charged more than Rs 14,000 per day in A1 and A2 category private hospitals, and Rs 12,600 per day in A3 and A4 category.

    The beneficiaries requiring sepsis treatment without ventilators should not be charged more than Rs 11,000 per day in A1 and A2 category private hospitals, while maximum cost for the same treatment in A3 and A4 category is Rs 9,900 per day. The patients requiring sepsis treatment with ventilator support and sepsis multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) treatment along with ventilator should not be charged more than Rs 15,000 and Rs 13,500 in A1, A2 category private hospitals and A3, A4 category private hospitals respectively.

    Hospital deans or authorised representatives or Greater Chennai Corporation can decide on referral of non-critical COVID-19 patients from government hospitals to empanelled private hospitals.
