“Senior officials will immediately know about it if you use Kavalan SOS app or control room numbers 100 or 112,” he said in a video message to the public. “The app is not only for escaping from criminals but also from cops harassing you,” he added. Pointing out that as a police officer with many years of experience, he has been receiving videos of police personnel beating the public, Ravi said, “Policemen should not assault public. There is no point in using third degree method. We should always go for scientific investigation. It is always better to advise people during lock down. Because some cops indulge in such unacceptable acts, the entire department is blamed,” he noted. He also reminded members of his force that the khaki uniform is not meant to show off superiority but to exercise restraint and to serve the people.
