Speaking to reporters, Nehru said, the DMK has been initiating a series of supportive programmes, but the AIADMK has been politicising them. For instance, the party youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin went to Thoothukudi with an e-pass issued by the state government, but Minister Jayakumar has been ridiculing it.
Nehru expressed dissatisfaction about the works initiated by the state to curb COVID-19 pandemic and asked the Chief Minister to convene an all-party meeting. “We have several ideas, but let the Chief Minister convene a meeting and we will present them,” Nehru said.
He reinstated that the party is ready to offer Kalaignar Arivalayam to make it as a quarantine centre, but no one has asked for it. “They are making the Yatri Nivaz as a quarantine centre but do not want to ask us the Arivalayam. We are always ready if the district administration makes a request,” he said.
Earlier, Nehru along with the other district secretaries met Collector S Sivarasu and urged him to accelerate the preventive works. However, the Collector has clarified that the number increases due to the accessibility of the airport and railway station and ensured prompt treatment.
