Speaking to reporters after flagging off the teams, the DIG (Tiruchy Range) Z Annie Vijaya said, people have been complaining to the police over phone. Among them many people seek emergency help and so these teams would soon rush to the spot and solve their problems at once.
Stating that as many as 109 RACE teams were formed across Tiruchy, Pudukkottai, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Karur under the Tiruchy Range Police, the DIG said, these teams would function in each police station round the clock on turn duty system. The contact numbers of the police personnel and officials are displayed in all the respective police stations as well as at key spots in public places and the people are advised to make use of the new arrangement.
“The main aim of RACE scheme is to avoid people coming to the police stations for complaints. Once the people call us, we will be present at the spot,” she said.
Meanwhile, the DIG said that the police receive several complaints on the women harassment, family disputes and verbal quarrels with neighbours and at the same time, we receive a few secrete information too. “The RACE team would visit the spot as soon as they receive the phone call. The teams are provided with two-wheelers for the purpose,” she said.
