The Doctors Diagnostic Centre which has been functioning in K Ramalinga Nagar near Woraiyur Tiruchy, a popular lab in the locality was the first private lab allowed to conduct COVID-19 tests in Tiruchy.
There were several complaints against the lab and the district administration found that a person who was tested negative, was uploaded as positive in the ICMR / RT-PCR website which had been monitored by the district administration. At this juncture, they had unwarrantedly delayed the person to get treated.
Similarly, the lab which tested 29 persons failed to give the results which was reportedly positive even after 20 days with an intention to get some favours from private hospitals with which the lab had some nexus.
Since the lab had failed to hand over the release to the persons tested positive and created panic among the public on the disease, the lab was locked as per the Sections 14a, 19 a, 72 a and 83 of Public Health Act 1939.
The lab was also levied a fine of Rs 5 lakh by Collector S Sivarasu and asked to pay in the treasury of Municipal Corporation.
