Official sources said that in the wake of the growing demand for siddha medicines to boost immunity against COVID 19 after good results in a number of patients in Chennai and a few other districts, the state government had decided to expand the facilities to other districts. As a part of the expansion programme, it has been decided to exclusive Siddha centres in Pudukkottai and Karur.

The centre in Pudukkottai will be established at Government Arts College for women. Sources said that certain medicines would be prepared at the centre itself and a separate facility will also be arranged for mixing and grinding of herbs. This apart, the centre would guide patients on yoga and breathing exercises.

According to Assistant Siddha Medical Officer Dr Saravanan, the centre would provide treatment only to those who have the symptoms of COVID 19. He also said that the district has 47 siddha doctors, who would be posted on turn duty in three shifts.

The Pudukkottai DRO MS Dhandayuthapani who visited Government Arts College for women, said that the centre would be established within a few days.

Meanwhile, a similar centre has been planned in Karur district for which initial works have begun.
