The Madras High Court had recently allowed the private schools to collect 40 per cent of the fees by the end of August. However, many self-financing institutions have started demanding 100 per cent fees from the parents by violating the HC order.

A senior official from the Directorate of Matriculation told DT Next on Tuesday that there were several complaints from the parents that many schools do not obey the court order and demand the tuition fees.

All the private schools were orally instructed to follow the High Court order. According to him, many parents have sent messages that were received from the schools insisting to pay the fees in full. “However, following complaints, it has been decided to identify such schools for taking action against the management,” he said adding “all the education officers were deployed to submit a detail report on the action taken against those institutions on or before August 10.”

The official said that a detail list of identified schools, which had indulged in fees collection, will be given to the court when the case will be coming up for hearing on August 17.

The government will not hesitate even to de-recognize the schools, which continue to violate the rules, the official added.
