The Public libraries were closed in the state 5 months ago as a part of lockdown measure. Now as the state is slowly crawling towards recovery and is in the unlock phase, a GO was passed by the TN government, allowing the public libraries to function from September 1.
According to the GO, permission is granted for opening the sections of lending, reference and own book reading of the public libraries. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was also issued in this regard.
As per the SOP issued, persons above the age of 65 years, persons with comorbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 15 years shall not be allowed to use the library. The operation hours of the libraries would be from 8 am to 2 pm.
Apparently, its time to beat the COVID blues for passionate readers as they will now be allowed to access Connemara Public Library, Anna Centenary Library and district central libraries.
