Tamil Nadu reports more recoveries than new COVID-19 cases for 8th day
Tamil Nadu’s COVID-19 tally crossed the five lakh mark on Sunday with 5,693 persons testing positive for the virus over the past 24 hours.

A total of 5,717 Covid-19 recovered patients were discharged from various hospitals in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
According to the state health ministry, as many as 4,47,366 persons have recovered from COVID-19.
There are 5,02,759 COVID positive cases throughout the state. The current recovery rate of the state has improved to 88.9 per cent.
Only 47,012 persons are under treatment in the state.
On the other hand, the latest reports said that 74 people died in Tamil Nadu since Saturday night. As per the data, 8,381 persons had died due to the virus in the state.
Chennai registered 994 new cases and 17 deaths. The active cases in the city stands at 10,393.
Coimbatore continued to report higher number of cases with 490 people testing positive on Sunday. Salem and Thiruvallur reported 309 and 300 cases respectively while Chengalpattu, Cuddalore and Tiruppur reported over 250 cases.
Tamil Nadu has tested 58,88,086 samples and 57,01,399 people so far, according to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.
