Actor cum politician S.Ve Shekher was granted a conditional anticipatory bail in the case of insulting national flag.
The Madras high court has accepted the apology he tendered and ordered him to be present himself to police enquiry.
One Rajarathnam had complained at the Chennai Commissioner Office that S.Ve Shekher's comment could incite communal unrest. So he was booked under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
The controversy set-off with a YouTube video in which he likened tricolour to particular religions while commenting on CM Edappadi Palaniswami draping a saffron cloth over an MGR statue.
Since being a BJP functionary, his party was displeased with his comments.
