Stalin trains guns at TN govt for Hindi in Ayush book
Leader of opposition parties M K Stalin, on Wednesday, questioned the usage of Hindi in the book supplied to MLAs by the Health Department.

“Though the state government made it clear that the state will follow two language formula, the book on herbs supplied to MLAs has names of the herbs in three languages including Hindi. I (Stalin) have a doubt whether state government is encouraging Hindi through the book”, said Stalin, during the Calling Attention motion on New Education Policy (NEP), in the Assembly.
Health Minister C Vijayabaskar, in his reply to Stalin’s doubts, said that the book was sponsored by the National Health Mission attached to Ministry of AYUSH and so the names of the herbs were mentioned in Hindi. He also said that the book had been sent to all the states to popularise the name of herbs found in Tamil Nadu.
He further said that the state government will continue to stick with its two language policy and asked Stalin not to determine the policy of the state government with just a book. Earlier in the NEP debate, Stalin said that in NEP central government has given more importance to Sanskrit than Tamil and it is a replica of ‘Kulakalvi scheme’.
He also said that at the age when students start learning education, NEP is making them write public exams in standards three, five and eight which will shatter the successful educational model in the state.
Later, Indian Union Muslim League leader Abu Backer, who also spoke on NEP, said that the central government through NEP had removed languages like French and Arabic from curriculum and it is not acceptable.
When Abu Backer questioned the presence of Hindi in herbal book, Vijayabaskar replied that AIADMK right from former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran to late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had done several issues for the development of the language and had conducted several world Tamil conferences which DMK had not conducted anyone so far.
Vijayadharani reads from mobile, warned for violating Assembly rules
Congress MLA S Vijayadharani, on Wednesday, was warned by Speaker P Dhanapal for violating the Assembly rules by bringing in mobile phone inside the Assembly hall. In the debate on New Education Policy (NEP), Vijayadharani while speaking on the demerits of NEP took out her mobile phone and started reading them by seeing the mobile phones. Electricity Minister P Thangamani interfered in her address and informed Speaker that Vijayadharani had violated Assembly rules by bringing mobile phone inside the Assembly hall and using it. Immediately, Speaker warned Vijayadharani about the violation. “What you are doing is not right. It is violation of rules”, said Dhanapal. Vijayadharani then apologised to Speaker and then switched off her mobile following which she continued her address on NEP.
