According to the IGNITTE official sources, four government school students — Sethupathi (GHSS Lalgudi), Hari Krishnan (GHSS Lalgudi), Aiysha Siddeequa (GHSS Syed Murtaza), Pugazharasi (GHSS Manachanallur) secured 91, 88, 74, 31 percentiles respectively and cleared JEE MAIN this year and they were felicitated by the Director Dr Mini Shaji Thomas on Friday. IGNITTE, is a club founded by Sanjeev V and co-founded by Saran Badresh, Adharsh Yeshwanth, Arun Prasanna, Aravindan C, Prem Kumar, students of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchy in 2017. They felt the need to provide access to resources and coaching for talented government school students in rural areas for competitive exams like JEE.

With the help of the then Director of NIT Tiruchy and the then Collector of Perambalur district K Nandthakumar, Sanjeev and his team conducted classes for higher secondary school students in a government school in Perambalur. The club trained the students during weekends and in the same year as that of the inception of the club, 2 students cleared JEE MAIN, 13 students cleared NEET.

The success story continued when in 2018, 2 out of 4 students trained by IGNITTE cleared JEE MAIN. The following year 2 students cleared JEE MAIN and one of them was allotted a seat in NIT Tiruchirappalli.

In 2019, the club aimed at increasing the students benefiting from the programme, hence initiated IMPULSE with the support from the Director of the institute Dr Mini Shaji Thomas, District Collector of Tiruchy S Sivarasu IAS, the Chief Educational Officer of Tiruchy Shanthi and the club’s faculty advisor, Dr M Venkata Kirthiga. The project IMPULSE conducted an entrance exam to select 60 out of 600 students and trained them in NIT Tiruchy, providing free food and accommodation during their stay in the weekends. The team continued their coaching remotely for students during the lockdown and as a result of collective efforts, 4 students have cleared JEE MAIN and considering the previous years’ trends, one of them would secure a seat in NIT Tiruchy.
