Two women thrash pvt firm manager over alleged sexual misconduct, re-inquiry ordered
Two women from Madurai taught a fitting lesson to a manager of a private textile firm in Erode for alleged sexual misconduct.
Coimbatore
The duo not only sprayed chilli powder on his face, but also tied his hands and thrashed him. In a video recorded on one of their mobile phones, one of them is seen kicking the man. The incident occurred in the Palladam area. The manager hails from Avinashi in Tirupur.
In the video, after every kick, the angry woman warns the manager against his habitual misbehaviour towards women. The women soon after informed the cops at the Tirupur control room. The police arrived and took all of them to the station. After an inquiry, the cops however booked both the man and the two women based on both sets of complaints. The manager claimed the two took revenge upon him for terminating them from work.
Though the incident occurred on September 14, the Tirupur police have now decided on a re-inquiry in the wake of the women submitting a petition in the Madurai Collectorate demanding a fair investigation. “The investigation was proceeding on the right track. However, I have ordered a re-inquiry. The women, who were terminated from the firm, had come from Madurai to Tirupur for office work. Their attack seems premeditated and not solely for defensive reasons alone,” said Disha Mittal, Superintendent of Police, Tirupur.
Duo approaches Madurai Collector for protection
The two women approached Madurai Collector TG Vinay seeking authorities’ intervention into the matter. One of the women, in a petition said, she got a job with help from a friend in a textile mill near Palladam, Tirupur district, but was subjected to sexual harassment by the manager. She accused him of taking her photographs and morphing her images and forcing her to fulfil all his demands, refusing which, all her photos would be made public. The girl approached Palladam police, but here too she alleged harassment as the cops did not act on her complaint and instead sent both to a Judicial Magistrate who remanded them to 15-day custody. They spent five days in Coimbatore jail and since her friend contracted COVID, they were released on bail. Later, the manager, took thugs along with him to threaten her, the girl alleged. Citing these, she also sought protection.
