TN boards for Classes 10-12 likely to be deferred by two months
With the reopening of schools across the State remaining unclear, the government is likely to postpone the board exams for Classes 10, 11, and 12 by two months this academic year due to the pandemic situation, reliable sources informed.

The expert committee, which was constituted to make up the academic loss for the students, came out with several measures, including truncating the syllabus for the students and cancelling the quarterly exams.
A senior official from the School Education Department told DT Next that if the reopening of the schools is further extended to November end or December, the expert panel suggests that the board exams should also be postponed by two months. “Instead of conducting the exams between March and April, the committee also recommended to reschedule it in June or July,” he added.
He said that the State government will not have any problem in extending the board exams for Class 10 and Class 11 students as they do not have further exams for higher studies.
“However, a decision on extending Class 12 exams cannot be taken by the State as the students should have to appear for several competitive exams, including NEET and JEE, only after the completion of their annual exams,” he said.
“Authorities will be in touch with NTA very soon to know its schedule and accordingly, the board exams for Class 12 students here could be decided,” he added.
