    COVID 19: TN records 5,447 new COVID cases while 5,524 recovered

    The COVID recovery cases exceeded the new infections as on October 7, in Tamil Nadu. Chennai continued to see a spike with 1,096 new cases reported.

    As many as 5,447 people tested positive for coronavirus in Tamil Nadu over the past 24 hours, reported the State Health Department in its bulletin, on Wednesday.

    With the new infections reported, the state's COVID tally increased to 6,35,855 cases.

    In the last 24 hours, 67 people succumbed to COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, pushing the death toll in the state to 9,984.

    According to the bulletin, as many as 5,524 were recovered and discharged today. Also, the testing was done to around 91,401 persons, taking the overall sampling toll to 7,25,962.

    While the state capital, Chennai recorded a total of 1,096 new cases, the other districts reported 4,451 cases.
