State partners with WEF to house India’s first advanced manufacturing hub
In yet another display of its ability to attract big ticket investments, especially in the manufacturing sector, Tamil Nadu has partnered with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to establish the country’s first advanced manufacturing hub (AMHUB).
Chennai
Guidance, the nodal investment promotion and facilitation agency of the State government, formalised its partnership with the WEF to establish the marquee AMHUB project, on Wednesday.
Neeraj Mittal, MD-CEO, Guidance, Francisco Betti, Head of Advanced Manufacturing and Production (AMP), WEF and Ion Cronin, Project Lead, AMP, WEF, witnessed the historic partnership.
The AMHUB is one of the 19 platforms designed by the WEF, focusing on engaging regional production ecosystems to identify and address opportunities and challenges brought by the fourth industrial revolution by amplifying regional success stories globally, besides sharing best practices and incubating new partnerships. AMHUB will help nurture the production ecosystem in Tamil Nadu, said a statement.
This would make it possible to harness opportunities in the sectors of electronics, electric mobility, solar energy and textiles. “As an important contributor to the manufacturing sector in India, Tamil Nadu will use the AMHUB to adopt IoT and other emerging technologies for advanced manufacturing to sustain and create new avenues of manufacturing growth,” said Mittal.
This would not only boost end-to-end manufacturing of high-tech and high-value products but also equip the State in latest disruptive technologies. To attract high-tech organisations and provide fillip to the development of industrial corridors and clusters and smart cities, such an ecosystem is necessary, added the statement.
Tamil Nadu is one of the largest manufacturing destinations in India, particularly in automobiles, a release added, highlighting the advancements made by the State to emerge as one of the leading investment destinations.
