Release of accused in rape and murder case irks barbers

The one-day strike was called by Tamil Nadu Barber Workers Association and Tamil Nadu Hairdressers’ Welfare Union. The members of the association also staged protests at Dindigul, Madurai, Theni, Tirunelveli, Chennai and elsewhere across the State demanding justice for the victim. Congress MP Jothimani and Oddanchatram MLA R Chakrapani met Dindigul Collector M Vijayalakshmi and submitted a memorandum demanding the government to appeal against the acquittal of the accused in the case. Members of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) also staged a protest demanding the government to render justice for the victim.
